It combines luxury and warm African hospitality with the best culture and nature experience.

Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge

Located on the eastern rim of the crater, facing the always magnificent sunsets to the west, and located at the highest point on Ngorongoro crater's entire rim, Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge stands well over half a kilometre above the crater floor and offers unparalleled views across this enormous caldera. Themed around traditionally circular African houses with conical roofs, and decorated with examples of Africa's rich tapestry of artistic traditions by way of rich woodcarvings and sculptures, the lodge features 97 rooms which harmonize perfectly with its dramatic surroundings. But the drama does not just stop with the great outdoors: it also flows through the split level interiors of the main building which all offer an unsurpassed generosity of space while somehow managing to combine an almost magically welcoming ambience of both warmth and cosiness.

Shu’mata Camp

The camp is located at the foot of Kilimanjaro, deep in the traditional Maasai land, in an area known as Private Amboseli. Large East African tents, in true Hemingway style, form a line on a hill with magnificent views in all directions. At the front of the camp bush savannah melts into the slopes of Kilimanjaro, towering above into the blue skies of Africa, so close that on a moonlit night details of the glaciers can be visible. Seasonally the surrounding savannah bush teams with wildlife – herds of elephant, eland, zebra, wildebeest and Oryx as well as Grants and Thompson Gazelle.

There are for now eight comfortable safari tents in the true Hemingway style. All have en-suite bathrooms decorated colourfully with Maasai art. Outside, under the great African sky, the open fireplace adds a true feeling of adventure and safari romance. All tents have big panoramic tent windows with gauze, overlooking the private Amboseli plains, the seven sisters and Kilimanjaro. Equipped with a dressing table, a Hemingway style hanging cupboard, bedside tray stands and a nostalgic lockable trunk for personal belongings create an atmosphere of the safari life of the 1920s. Shu’mata’s style is a fusion of the last millennium combined with Tanzania’s natural fabrics and bright Maasai colours.
