Day 1 - Arrive in Lima

Upon arrival to Lima at the International Jorge Chavez Airport our representative will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel situated in Miraflores district. Today Lima is a bustling metropolis, located at sea level and near the beaches, its mixed architecture contrasts with the beauty of the Pacific Ocean.

Day 2 – Lima – Arequipa: City Tour and Santa Catalina Convent

Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to the airport to board your flight from Lima to Arequipa, which is a colonial city founded at the foot of three volcanoes. It lies down in a valley at 2.400 meters above sea level and can be considered the door to the Andes. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon you have a sightseeing tour of the city of Arequipa (White City of the Andes), whose historical centre conserves important buildings from the colonial period. From the panoramic points of El Carmen and Yanahuara we will enjoy an impressive view over the city, surrounded by huge volcanoes such as the Misti (5,825 m) and the Chachani (above 6,076 m). We will visit the San Ignacio de Loyola Chapel with its beautiful frescoes, belonging to Jesuit church, and the Santa Catalina Convent, an immense monastery dating from the XVII century, where cloisters, patios, galleries typical from Colonial times are open to public.

Day 3 - Arequipa - Colca Valley

Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning we depart from the amazing Colca Valley crossing the National Reserve of Pampa Cañahuas, where it might be possible to see some Vicuñas. We climb up to the pass of the Volcanoes from where we enjoy an amazing view over the Andes Mountains. We continue towards the wonderful Colca Valley, a fertile isolated valley in the middle of the mountains. In the early afternoon we arrive in the village of Chivay or Yanque (depending on your Hotel) and you could enjoy the hot springs of La Calera or at Colca Lodge within the natural environment in the hotel.

Day 4 - Colca Valley

Breakfast in the hotel. Early morning drive to an observation point, located between Maca and Cabanaconde, one of the deepest parts of the canyon. Here, you find the perfect spot to look down 1,200m (3,937 ft) into the canyon at 'Mirador Cruz del Condor'. It is here that the legendary condor, the bird with the largest wingspan in the world, can be seen rising and circling on the morning thermals, silhouetted against the magnificent backdrop of the mountain scenery. After the tour return to the hotel to rest.

Day 5 - Colca Valley - Sillustani - Puno

Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning we say goodbye to Colca to continue our (approx 6 hour) trip across Altiplano landscapes to Puno. The average altitude en route reaches the 4,500 m (14,700 ft). We travel from Colca towards the little village of Imata, pass by the blue bright Lagunillas Lake and arrive at the City of Juliaca. Half an hour's drive after Juliaca we leave the main road to visit the Sillustani Necropolis, an interesting archaeological site, set on the shore of the Umayo Lake. After the guided visit we continue to Puno, set on the shore of the huge Titicaca Lake, situated at 3.800 metres above sea level.

Day 6 - Puno - Uros - Amantani

Breakfast in the hotel. The entire day is dedicated to the excursion on Lake Titicaca with a private boat. We will cruise through the blue water of the lake until we reach the floating islands of the Uros. We continue the navigation to the bigger Island of Amantani, in the middle of the big lake, from where we will enjoy the spectacular landscape. The rest of the afternoon is dedicated to exploring this island and in the evening you will be welcomed by a local family, who you will stay with and enjoy an evening meal followed by dancing and singing. It is a unique and genuine experience which will give you an insight into the lifestyle and ways of the local people and will benefit them too.

Day 7 - Amantani - Taquile - Puno

Breakfast in a local guesthouse. In the morning we depart by boat toward the other big island of Lake Titicaca; Taquile Island. You have time at your disposal to walk throughout the island where about a thousand people run a very simple and traditional life. Amazing view over the lake. In the early afternoon we navigate back to Puno. Arrival and transfer back to the hotel.

Day 8 - Puno - Cusco: Andes and Andahuaylillas

Breakfast in the hotel. We will then take the bus from Puno to Cusco (450 km: 8 hours approx). This is the only way to visit the local communities of the Andes and see Andahuaylillas. Private transport can be arranged at additional cost.
On the way, we will visit the Pukara Museum (Archaeological Centres) and continue on to La Raya, the highest point of the trip situated at 4,319 metres above sea level. You will have a guided tour to Raqchi the Temple of the God of Viracocha, which is built of adobe walls on volcanic rock foundations. Finally we will visit Andahuaylillas, a small colonial town which houses a church know as the ¨Sistine Chapel of the Andes¨. On the journey you will experience old Inca customs, because people who live in these places still live with the same Inca traditions. We continue the journey till the city of Cusco, the Capital of the Inca Empire and a very important city during colonial times.

Day 9 - Cusco: Nearby ruins and City Tour

Breakfast in the hotel. Early in the morning we will start our gastronomic tour. We will visit the Central market of Cusco city where we can observe the variety of Andean products and the way of the Andean trade. They will have the opportunity to observe different kinds of Andean tubers like the potatoes which have more than 3000 varieties of chilies, corns and a lot of diversity of exotic fruits. Afterwards we continue to the restaurant where we can prepare one of the most typical delicious food of Cusco ¨Solterito de Habas¨ and have the experience of preparing one of the most representative dessert likes: mazamorra morada, arroz zambito, etc. Finally we will learn how to prepare the great Pisco sour!

In the afternoon, after lunch in a local restaurant, we will start by taking a sightseeing tour of Cusco City and the surrounding archaeological sites. We will visit the Fortress of Sacsayhuaman identified as a great sacred place, from where we will enjoy an amazing view over Cusco, the amphitheatre of Kenko, Tambomachay, with its two distinctive aqueducts that to this day continue to provide clean water to the area and Puca Pucara, a strategically located "red fortress" that dominates the entire area. We continue with the visit of the historic city centre, strolling through the elegant Plaza de Armas, surrounded by colonial buildings dominated by the majestic Cathedral. Visit of the Temple of Koricancha or Temple of the Sun, an important site of worship of the Inca Empire. After the tour we return to the hotel.

Day 10 - Cusco - Chitapampa - Abra Chimpu Orco - Patabamba

Breakfast in the hotel. We start the day by travelling by private transport to the community of Chitapampa (3579 m), located in Taray. The tour starts with an ascent through the gorge of Chimpu Orco (4043 m). We will see the crops growing in the fields, such as potatoes, corn and Andean cereal like kiwicha, Quinua and Cañihua. Lunch will be taken near the community of Callarayan. Afterwards it will be possible to observe some vestiges of an Inca trail, before we descend until the Andean community of Patabamba (3951 m) where we will receive a friendly Andean welcome. The group will be divided and each person/couple will live with a local family. This community is known for their entirely dedication to the preservation of the iconographies of the City´s Andean textiles. The community will show us the different plants they use for medicinal purposes and for preparing the natural dyes they use on their textiles. The settlers will teach to us how to prepare their dyes and dye their weaves. In the evening we will have a party in order to learn about their typical dances.

Day 11 - Patabamba - Pucamarca - Canon de Leon Punku - Ruinas de Huchuy Qosqo - Lamay - Sacred Valley

Breakfast in a local guesthouse. Today we say goodbye to the local families and we will walk to the Sacred valley balcony (600 m). From here you can see the towns of Calca, Lamay, Colla and Pisaq. It is possible to see the snow-covered peaks of La Veronica, Pitusiray and Sawasiray. The route ascends up to the community of Sihuas, and then we continue to the archaeological centre of Pucamarca (4001 m). After the lunch, we descend to the archaeological group of Huchuy Qosqo (3656 m), the route across a spectacular canyon known as León Punku that has vestiges of 3 bridges and an original Inca way. Also we can observe a lot of bromelias and the typical vegetation of the zone. We will have time to explore Huchuy Qosqo and see the great views of the Sacred Valley. Finally we will return to our hotel.

Day 12 - Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes

Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning we continue alongside the valley to the village of Ollantaytambo, a good example of the military architecture during the Inca times. After the visit we continue to the station to board the train to Aguas Calientes, where we arrive after a one and a half hour journey across the amazing Urubamba Valley. Upon arrival at Aguas Calientes, there is a short walk to the hotel for your Hotel where you can spend the rest of the day enjoying the town or relaxing in the hotel.

Day 13 - Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Breakfast in the hotel. Early in the morning we take the 20-minute coach ascent to the 'Lost City of the Incas': Machu Picchu. It's hard to understand how such a magnificent site could not have been discovered by the Spanish. Until its discovery in the 1911, Machu Picchu remained forgotten for 400 years. Our guide will explain the fascinating history of this impressive Inca archaeological site. There is an optional visit to walk to the nearby ruins of Inty Punku, the so called "Sun Door" on the East side of the main complex, or maybe to climb up to the Moon Temple on the top of Wayna Picchu Mountain, from where you will have an astonishing view of the entire Machu Picchu ruins. In the afternoon we return by bus to Aguas Calientes, where we will board our train to go back to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival, transfer by bus to the hotel in Cusco City.

Day 14 - Cusco - Lima: Larco Herrera Museum and City Tour

Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to the airport to board your flight from Cusco to Lima. Upon arrival in Lima, you will be met by our local guide and continue to the Larco museum where we will have lunch in ¨Café del Museo¨. Afterwards we will visit the museum, founded in 1926; the Larco Museum showcases remarkable chronological galleries providing an excellent overview on 3000 years of development of Peruvian pre-Columbian history. Located in a unique vice-royal mansion of the 18th century built over a 7th century pre-Columbian pyramid, it is surrounded by beautiful gardens. It features the finest gold and silver collection from Ancient Peru and the famous erotic archaeological collection, one of the most visited Peruvian tourist attractions. For an unforgettable experience, Larco is one of the few museums in the world where visitors can also choose to enter the storage area with its 45000 classified archaeological objects. Its masterpieces are considered worldwide icons of Pre-Columbian art, after being exhibited in the world´s leading museums. The sightseeing of the historic centre with important colonial monuments, the Plaza de Armas (Main square), the Plaza San Martin (San Martin Square), the Cathedral (Cathedral Basilica) and the San Francisco Church (Convent of Saint Francis), which displays the biggest collection of religious art in the American continent. Finally, a short visit to the residential districts of San Isidro and Miraflores.

Day 15 - Lima - Depart
