Programme details:

This is a 9-day, 8-night programme, giving you a classic experience of Jordan but with a unique Bedouin insight. It includes 4 nights staying in Bedouin camps.

Day 1 – Sat - Welcome to Jordan

Evening arrival at Amman International Airport, where you will be met by your guide and transferred to your Hotel in Madaba, which is about 30 minutes drive and will be your base for the next day.
Overnight at the Mariam Hotel or equivalent.

Day 2 – Sun – Visit Madaba, Mount Nebo and the Dead Sea

In the morning you will be met at the Hotel and taken to see the Roman mosaics of Madaba. Best known for its spectacular Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics, Madaba is home to the famous 6th century Mosaic Map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land.
You will then visit Mount Nebo. According to the final chapter of Deuteronomy, Mount Nebo is where the Hebrew prophet Moses was given a view of the Promised Land that God was giving to the Hebrews. On the highest point of the mountain, Syagha, the remains of a church and monastery have been uncovered.
In the afternoon, you will travel to the Dead Sea. At 410 meters below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest place on earth. Jordan's Dead Sea coast is one of the most spectacular natural and spiritual landscapes in the world and it remains as enticing to international visitors today as it was to kings, emperors, traders, and prophets in antiquity. You then travel back to Madaba.

Overnight at the Mariam Hotel or equivalent.

Day 3 - Mon - The Kings Highway to Petra

Today, you will travel along the Kings Highway to Petra and along the way you will visit Karak Castle, Dana and Shobak Castle. More imposing than beautiful and a real "tourist trap", Karak Castle is nevertheless an impressive insight into the architectural military genius of the Crusaders.

On your way south you will stop to experience the timeless serenity of Dana Village. A lonely reminder of former Crusader glory is Shobak Castle. Once called "Mont Real", Shobak dates from the same turbulent period as Karak. It is perched on the side of a mountain, with a grand sweep of fruit trees below.

In the evening you will arrive into Wadi Musa and check in at your Hotel.

You will overnight in the Hotel in Wadi Musa.

Day 4 – Tues – Visit Petra

Petra is now one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. There is little you can say about Petra other than it must be seen. Perhaps one of the surprising things to the new visitor is the scale of the site and the depth of history from its Nabataean origins.

You will have a full day visit to Petra, accompanied by both a Historical guide and your Bedouin guide. You can walk through the Siq or use the donkey or camel transport to see the best places of the site - the Treasury, the Nabataean Theatre, the Roman Colonnaded Street and the impressive Monastery.

If you are feeling fit, your Bedouin guide will take you to the places the Bedouin enjoy, the High Place of Sacrifice and the peak overlooking the Treasury.See the video below for a short taste of our unique Bedouin insight.

At the end of the day, you will enjoy a Turkish bath and rest at your hotel. There may also be an option to view Petra by night.

Overnight in Wadi Musa at a 3* or 4* hotel.

Day 5 – Wed – Petra to Little Petra by camel

You have a second day to enjoy Petra and revisit the sites. In the afternoon, you will have the option of walking or being taken on a camel tour from Petra to Little Petra. That evening you will visit a Bedouin camp near Little Petra. Your Bedouin guides will welcome you into the big Bedouin tent, cook food (Mansaff) in the traditional way and relate stories about the ancient stories of Petra and their actual life living in the caves around the site.

Overnight in your Hotel in Wadi Musa.

Day 6 – Thu – Wadi Araba

After breakfast, you will travel to Shobak to spend the day walking with your Bedouin Desert guide through Wadi Al Ghawa to Feinan camp. Your Bedouin hosts have chosen Wadi Araba over Wadi Rum as giving an equivalent experience, but without the crowds! Your belongings will be taken by vehicle to the campsite to allow you to enjoy the scenery.
